Piles Investigations, Complications, Homoeopathic Treatment:-
Investigations :-(1) Per rectal examination is done mainly to rule out carcinoma of the rectum or other causes of bedding per rectum. Hemorrhoids cannot be felt by rectal examination unless they are thrombosed or fibrosis.(2)Proctoscopy: -As the obturator is removed, piles prolapse into the lumen of proctoscope as like cherry red masses. (3)Sigmoidoscopy and Proctoscopy are done to rule out proximal cancer.
Complications of hemorrhoids:-(1)A common & most important complication; it can cause chronic anemia. Rarely, massive bedding can occur because of portal hypertension.
(2)A prolapse outside presents with severe pain in the perianal region-piles gripped by internal sphincter results in venous congestion & edema followed by strangulation.
(3)Ulceration & secondary infection
(4)Thrombosis and fibrosis. The homeopathic way of treatment:- ‘Homoeopathy treats the patient not only the disease’ is a commonly used epigram in Homoeopathy. The Homoeopathic physician cures the sick man by reversing the diseased condition to the healthy state as a whole. We the Homoeopathic Physicians treat the patient in a ‘Holistic way’; I;e, Patients as a whole, by thorough complete case taking; physical symptoms, past history, family history, mental symptoms, through the totality of symptoms; we should give a constitutional remedy. Yes, there are lots of therapeutic medicines, but the Holistic approach should be maintained.
Through therapeutic way here I am going to mention few medicines; with red line symptoms but always prefer constitutional similimum in a Holistic approach to attain complete cure:-
(1)Hamamelis Virginia:- This drug is mainly indicative of bleeding piles. Bleeds profusely with burning, soreness, fullness & heaviness as if back would break, urging to stool, bluish color, anus feels sore & raw. Prostration is out of proportion to the amount of blood loss.
(2)Aesculus:-Haemorrhoids blind, painful burning & purplish, rarely bleeding. Rectum sore with fullness, burning & itching. Dryness & heat of rectum, with sensation as if the rectum is full of small sticks. Knife-like pains shoot up the rectum.
(3)Ratanhia:-Excruciating pains after stool, burning after stool. Fissures of the anus with great sensitiveness of rectum. Constipation: -hard stool with much straining, hemorrhoids protrude during stool & is followed by long-lasting aching & burning in anus.
